INDIVIDUAL FEATURES

Let’s you know if someone else is calling when you are on the telephone.

 HOW TO USE CALL WAITING: 

1) If while on the phone you hear a short “beep,” you will know someone else is trying to reach your number. To answer the second call without ending the first, press and release the switch hook button quickly. Your first call is placed on “hold” while you are connecting with the second caller. 

2) To return to the first call, press and release the switch hook button quickly. 

3) By pressing and releasing the switch hook button you can alternate between callers and each conversation is private. 

 Cancel Call Waiting 

Eliminates Call Waiting tones from interrupting conversations, facsimile transmissions, Internet and computer modems. 

TO USE CANCEL CALL WAITING BEFORE MAKING A CALL: 

1) Press *70 from your touch-tone phone. 

2) Dial the number you want to reach. 

TO USE CANCEL CALL WAITING DURING A CALL (REQUIRES THREE-WAY CALLING): 

1) Press and release the switch hook button quickly to place the call on hold. 

2) After hearing the dial tone, press *70. 

3) Press and release the switch hook button quickly and return to your call. 

 Store the numbers you call frequently, then dial them with just the push of one or two buttons. Available in either an eight or thirty number list. 

PROGRAM INSTRUCTIONS FOR SPEED CALLING 8 OR 30: 

1) Choose a one-digit code (numbers 2 through 9) for Speed Calling 8. Choose a two-digit code (numbers 20 through 49) for Speed Calling 30 for each number you wish to enter. 

2) Press *74 for Speed Calling 8. 

Press *75 for Speed Calling 30. 

3) Wait for dial tone. Enter the code you have selected and complete telephone number including the 1 plus area code for long distance numbers. Two beeps will confirm your entry. Then hang up. 

4) To change a number on your Speed Calling list, repeat steps one, two and three. The old numbers will be automatically replaced in memory with the new number. 

TO USE SPEED CALLING 8 OR 30: 

1) Press the speed dial digits that correspond to the number you want to reach. 

Example: Dial #22 and your call will be dialed automatically. 

Add a third party to your conversation. Works locally and for long distance numbers. 

ADDING A THIRD PARTY TO YOUR CALL: 

1) Press and release the switch hook to put your first call on hold. 

2) After hearing the dial tone, dial your third party. 

3) When your third party answers, press and release the switch hook button. This connects all three parties. 

TO END THREE-WAY CALLING: 

Press and release the switch hook button to disconnect the last party. If either party hangs up you may continue to speak with the remaining party. 

Return calls to the number that called you. Solve the mystery of who’s calling. 

TO USE CALL RETURN: 

1) Press *69. Listen for announcement that will tell you the phone number of your last caller and will ask if you want to return the call. Just follow the voice instructions. 

IF THE LINE IS BUSY: 

1) Hang up. Your phone will try getting the line for up to thirty minutes. 

2) You will hear a special call back ring when the line becomes available. 

3) Your call will automatically be placed when you lift the handset. 

TO CANCEL CALL RETURN REQUEST: 

1) Press *89, listen for tone or announcement. Hang up. 

Repeat Dialing allows your phone to continuously attempt to redial a number that is busy. You will be alerted with a special ring when the line is free. 

TO USE REPEAT DIALING: 

1) When you hear a busy signal, press and release the switch hook to get dial tone. 

2) Press *66. Your phone will keep trying the line for up to thirty minutes. 

3) You will hear a special ring when the line is free. 

4) Pick up the handset and your call will automatically be made. 

This feature allows you to trace annoying telephone calls. By dialing a special code you can trace the call and the telephone number of the caller will be printed at your local telephone company. 

TO USE CALL TRACE: 

1) After receiving the annoying call, hang up. 

2) Lift the handset, listen for the dial tone. 

3) Press *57 and listen to the voice instructions to dial an additional code and then the call will be traced. 

4) Listen for confirmation announcement. 

NOTES: 

You must activate Call Trace immediately after the annoying call. If another call comes in or if you hear a Call Waiting tone, you will trace the wrong call. You must call your Telephone Company’s business office within two business days to ensure the information is kept on file. Information will be released only to law enforcement for the purpose of prosecution. 

This feature allows you to control the toll calls from your line by using a pin number. 

TO USE TOLL CONTROL WITH PIN: 

1) Lift handset and get dial tone, dial *13. Wait for second dial tone and then dial your pin number followed by the # sign. You will then receive a coded dial tone and can now place the toll call. To change your pin number, lift the handset and get dial tone, dial *12. Wait for coded dial tone and then dial your old pin number followed by the # sign. Another coded dial tone will come on line at which point you will then dial your new pin number followed by the # sign. 

2) Or in limited areas: dial long distance number and you will receive an announcement saying number cannot be dialed. Enter 4 digit pin number followed by the # sign and call will complete.

CALL FORWARDING FEATURES

This feature allows you to transfer your calls to another number of your choice. You don’t have to miss those important calls. 

TO USE CALL FORWARDING: 

1) Lift handset. Press *72 and listen for a dial tone. 

2) Dial the telephone number you want your calls transfered to. If the call is answered, call forwarding is activated. If the call is not answered, dial the number again to activate call forwarding. 

TO END CALL FORWARDING: 

1) Lift handset. Press *73. Then you will hear two short “beeps” to let you know Call Forwarding is no longer activated. 

NOTES: 

You will hear a short ring each time your number is dialed. You cannot answer the calls. This is just a reminder that Call Forwarding is still activated. You will be billed long distance charges for calls forwarded to a number outside your local calling area. 

Selective Call Forwarding 

Select only the telephone numbers you want forwarded and program the destination number to which they are forwarded. All other calls will ring at your phone as usual. 

TO USE SELECTIVE CALL FORWARDING: 

1) Press *63. 

2) Listen to voice instructions that will guide you through steps of how to turn on and off and how to make changes to your Selective Call Forwarding list. 

3) To add the last caller to your forward list press #01#. 

4) To enter your forward-to number, follow voice instructions. 

5) To hear instructions again, press 0. 

6) You can store up to sixteen numbers on your forward list. 

Call Forwarding Busy/No Answer 

With this feature you can forward your calls to another number when your line is busy or there is no answer after the specified number of rings. 

TO USE CALL FORWARDING BUSY/NO ANSWER: 

1) Call Forwarding Busy, press *90. Listen for dial tone and enter the number to which the calls will be forwarded. 

2) Call Forwarding No Answer, press *92; then enter the number to which the call will be forwarded. 

3) To end Call Forwarding Busy, press *91. 

4) To end Call Forwarding No Answer, press *93. 

5) Listen for two “beeps,” then hang up. 

This feature is ideal for the person that has moved to another permanent location. Your telephone company will forward your calls to that preselected location. 

With this feature, the phone will automatically dial a preselected number if knocked off the hook for more than thirty seconds. This is a nice feature for the disabled, elderly or handicapped person. Piedmont Communications suggests optimal use of this feature by including Personal Ringing or Caller ID on the called party’s phone. 

With this feature, when your telephone number is called, you may have it ring up to four different numbers simultaneously. Call Piedmont Communications to have this feature activated. 

With the Find Me feature, customers receive a username and password. When your telephone number is called, find me will ring up to 4 numbers in sequence to locate you for your important calls. This is great for busy moms and business use. 

CALL SCREENING FEATURES

Great for roommates, teenagers and businesses. With personal ringing you have a second phone number with a distinctive ring with one phone line. You can determine who the call is for because of the unique ring. Get some of the benefits of a second line at a fraction of the cost. Works with Call Waiting and Caller ID. 

Create a list of up to sixteen numbers with one distinctive ring. The ring lets you know it’s one of the callers from your list. Works with Call Waiting and Caller ID. 

TO USE DISTINCTIVE RINGING: 

1) Press *61. Voice message lets you know if feature is on or off. It will also let you know how many numbers are stored in your list (if any). 

2) Follow voice message and press 3 to turn the feature on and off. 

TO ADD THE LAST CALLER TO YOUR LIST: 

1) Press #01#. 

TO ADD A NUMBER TO YOUR LIST: 

1) Press # then follow voice instructions. 

TO REMOVE A NUMBER FROM YOUR LIST: 

1) Press * then follow voice instructions. 

TO HEAR NUMBERS ON YOUR LIST: 

1) Press 1. After the list is read follow voice instructions. 

TO HEAR INSTRUCTIONS AGAIN: 

1) Press 0. 

See who the caller is before you answer. You can decide if you want to answer the call. Allows for more privacy and security. You will need a display phone or add-on unit. After the first full ring the caller’s number will appear on the display unit. 

FACTS ABOUT CALLER ID: 

1) The telephone number of the caller will appear on your display screen after the first full ring. 

2) The number will remain on the screen until you or the caller hangs up. 

3) If the letter “P” or “Private” appears on your screen, the caller has blocked the display of their number. It is up to you whether to answer the call. 

4) If “Unknown Number” appears, the call is coming from an area or equipment where the information is not available. 

With this feature, you can reject calls which are displayed as “private” on your Caller ID device. 

TO USE ANONYMOUS CALL REJECTION: 

1) Press *77. 

2) After hearing the confirmation tone hang up. 

TO CANCEL ANONYMOUS CALL REJECTION: 

1) Press *87. 

NOTE: 

If a caller has blocked their number from being displayed, they will hear an announcement that you do not accept anonymous calls and they should remove blocking and call again. 

Selective Call Acceptance allows you to create a list of up to sixteen numbers from which you are willing to accept calls. All calls from numbers not on your list will be sent to an announcement stating that you are not receiving calls at this time. 

TO USE SELECTIVE CALL ACCEPTANCE: 

1) Press *64. An announcement will tell you if the feature is on or off. A pre-recorded voice will let you know how many, if any, numbers are stored on your list. 

2) Press 3 to turn the feature on and off. 

TO ADD THE LAST CALLER TO YOUR LIST: 

1) Press #01#. 

TO ADD A NUMBER TO YOUR LIST: 

1) Press # then follow voice instructions. 

TO REMOVE A NUMBER FROM YOUR LIST: 

1) Press * then follow voice instructions. 

TO HEAR NUMBERS ON YOUR LIST: 

1) Press 1. After the list is read follow voice instructions. 

TO HEAR INSTRUCTIONS AGAIN: 

1) Press 0. 

Selective Call Rejection allows you to create a list of up to sixteen numbers from which you do not wish to receive calls. Their calls will be sent to an announcement stating that you are not receiving calls at this time. You may change numbers on your list at any time. 

TO USE SELECTIVE CALL REJECTION: 

1) Press *60. An announcement will tell you if the feature is on or off and also how many numbers are stored in your rejection list. 

2) Press 3 to turn the feature on and off. 

3) Press #01# to add the last caller to your list. 

4) Press # to add a number to your list. Follow voice instructions. 

5) Press * to remove a number from your list. Follow voice instructions. 

6) Press 1 to hear numbers on your reject list. Voice instructions will follow. 

7) Press 0 to hear instructions again. 

This feature prevents callers from ringing your number except those with a personal identification number (PIN). You can change PIN numbers and turn the feature on and off as you desire. Callers that have no PIN will hear a busy signal. 

HOW TO USE DO NOT DISTURB: 

1) Press *95 to turn the feature on and off. You will hear a high-pitched tone. 

2) Press *96 to add the last caller to your list. Listen for three beeps then hang up. 

TO SET OR CHANGE PIN: 

1) Press *10. Listen for three beeps and dial tone. Enter PIN (1-7 digits). 

2) Press # then listen for three beeps, then hang up. 

NOTES: 

1) Rotary subscriber’s PIN will be put in by telephone company. 

2) All callers will receive busy signal when feature is on. Caller with PIN must enter PIN over the busy signal. 

3) Can receive calls only from callers with PIN from touch-tone phone. 

With this feature, all incoming calls go directly to a recording that tells the caller that this line does not accept calls from telemarketers. The recording then instructs the caller to dial “1” to complete the call if they are NOT a telemarketer. Or with this feature, suspected telemarketers are blocked from calling. Private name, private number, unknown name and unknown numbers are blocked. 

Caller ID Blocking prevents your telephone number from showing on someone’s Caller ID display device. 

• Per-Call Blocking is accomplished by entering a code that prevents your number from being displayed on an individual call basis before each call. 

TO USE CALLER ID BLOCKING-PER CALL: 

1) Press *67. Then dial the telephone number you are calling. The person you have called will not see your number on their display screen, instead “Private” will be displayed. 

Caller ID Blocking-Per Line prevents your telephone number from showing on someone’s Caller ID display device. 

• If you have requested Per-Line Caller ID Blocking through Piedmont Telephone, you do not need to dial a code. All of your calls will appear as “Private.” You may turn off Per-Line Caller ID Blocking and allow your number to be displayed on an individual call. 

TO USE CALLER ID BLOCKING-PER LINE: 

1) Press *82. Then dial the phone number you are calling. Your number will be displayed for the individual call. 

Voice Mail is an easy to use answering service that offers many advantages over answering machines. You may check messages from home or away from home. 

To check your voice mail from home dial *99 or 374-6245 and follow directions. If calling away from home to check your voice mail, dial your home number. When you hear the greeting begin, press * and follow directions. A pass code is required to check voice mail away from home. 

E-Voice Mail allows you to receive your voice messages in your e-mail. You can listen to your messages, save or delete them from your computer. Your voice mail will be sent to you via e-mail while you are online. 

Enhanced Voice Mail offers all of the features that E-Voice Mail offers along with a Pager Notification when you have a new message in your voice mailbox.
